2017 Texas CASA Child Welfare Primer & CASA Day at the Capitol

Thank you to the more than 300 peopole who registered to attend the 2017 Child Welfare Primer on Feb. 15 and CASA Day at the Capitol on Feb. 16. Registration is now closed.

These events will help spread CASA advocacy from the courtroom to the Capitol as we make our voices heard for our most vulnerable children in care. Check out the FAQs section or continue reading below for more information on both events.

CASA Day at the Capitol

The 2017 CASA Day at the Capitol is the day advocates join together, in a shared voice, to advocate for Texas children! Hundreds of CASA advocates from all over the state will fill the state capitol to share their personal stories of advocacy and discuss legislation that can impact the lives of children.

2017 Texas CASA Champions Luncheon

Join us for our annual fundraiser, the Texas CASA Champions Luncheon on April 6, 2017. This year’s luncheon is presented by CenterPoint Energy. We are honored to recognize two important champions of Texas children for their leadership and commitment to improving the lives of our most vulnerable children in the foster care system: Texas State Senator Jane Nelson and Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman. 2016 Texas CASA Conference: Amplifying Voices

Thank you to the more than 650 members of the CASA community who joined us in Dallas for the 2016 Texas CASA Conference: Amplifying Voices! Each of you is a powerful voice in a child’s life, and we hope you left this year’s conference with new tools and the resources you need to be a fierce advocate for children, the CASA network, and the CASA cause.

This year’s conference featured inspiring keynote addresses from broadcaster and author Tavis Smiley and former CASA youth Jackie Davis. In addition to these powerful voices, we added 6 more workshops this year – all geared towards helping you make waves of change in the lives of the children you serve.

We hope you enjoyed your time in Dallas and left feeling inspired and ready to take your role with CASA to the next level!

Legislative advocacy retreat

Texas CASA recently hosted the Legislative Advocacy Team (LAT) Retreat – an opportunity for CASA program LAT Chairs and staff to learn more about legislative advocacy, while networking with other members of the CASA community in Texas! At this year’s Retreat, attendees heard from Representative Marsha Farney, and the Texas CASA Public Policy team presented our legislative priorities for the upcoming 85th Legislative Session. Thank you to the more than 80 members of the CASA network who helped make this the best LAT Retreat to date!

More than 300 CASA supporters gathered at the Hilton Austin Downtown on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 for the Texas CASA Annual Forum, a two-part event  designed to educate the child welfare community on important issues and to recognize state leaders who have championed efforts to improve the lives of children in the child protection system.

volunteer power unleashed summit

FEBRUARY 18-19, 2016 | FT. WORTH

More than 100 CASA recruiters and other staff members from across the state gathered in Ft. Worth for first Volunteer Power Unleashed Summit on Feb. 19. At this interactive event, recruiters and their supervisors learned about current trends, best practices and tactics to recruit top talent.

On the evening of Thursday, Feb. 18, participants gathered for a kickoff networking session and participated in “Shark Tank: CASA Style.” On Friday, Feb. 19, attendees started the morning hearing from keynote speaker Tammy L. Richards, CEO of VolunteerNow, before breaking out into stations where experts in volunteer recruitment shared their successes and recommendations.
