CASA Leadership Meets with DFPS, OCOK to Discuss Community Based Care in Region 3B

On Thursday, May 10, leaders from Texas CASA and the five local CASA programs that serve the seven-county catchment area for DFPS Region 3B met with key staff from DFPS and Our Community Our Kids (OCOK) at CASA of Tarrant County. OCOK has served as the Single Source Continuum Contractor (SSCC) in Region 3B for four years and is currently in negotiations with DFPS to expand its role into Stage 2 of Community Based Care, which would include assuming case management responsibilities from the state. Region 3B includes Tarrant County and Ft. Worth, as well as six surrounding counties to the west and southwest – Parker, Palo Pinto, Erath, Hood, Somervell and Johnson.

CASA leaders expressed support for the efforts of OCOK in Region 3B and discussed how to best support the transition of services and care of children when OCOK assumes case management responsibilities. CASA also discussed the need for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) or some similar type of agreement with OCOK and other SSCCs, modeled on the MOU CASA agreed to with DFPS.
