CASA of Collin County Wins $100K from Reliant Energy® Gives Contest!

CASA of Collin County recently won $100,000 from the Reliant Energy® Gives Contest! This funding will help the McKinney-based program continue training dedicated volunteers, increase the number of volunteers trained each year, and ensure that 100 percent of children placed into foster care in Collin County have a voice.

Each year, Reliant employees get the chance to nominate deserving nonprofits, which are then screened and voted on to narrow nominations down to the top three – so even just being part of the contest is an honor, explained CASA of Collin County Executive Director Tricia Clifton. All three participating organizations win a donation, but only one organization wins the top prize of $100,000. It is up to each organization to campaign and gather the most votes to secure the grand prize.

“It took a community to make it happen, for us to win. [Reliant is] housed in Houston, and we beat the Houston organizations,” said Clifton. “So I think that that’s amazing, and it was truly one big team effort.”

This was made possible thanks in no small part to the support of the CASA community. A huge thank you goes to everyone who voted and spread the word!
