The Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) just released their September 2018 Relative and Other Designated Caregiver Placement Program Report. This report was required as part of House Bill 4, the bill passed last legislative session that allows kinship caregivers to be eligible to receive financial compensation for children in their care at about $400/month for 12 months. It includes data on permanency outcomes for children placed with relative or other designated caregivers, including:
- the number of disruptions in a placement,
- the reasons for any disruptions in a placement, and
- the length of time before a caregiver who receives monetary assistance from the Department obtains permanent managing conservatorship of a child.
