Texas Judge Strikes Down Federal Indian Child Welfare Act

The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) was enacted by Congress with the purpose to promote the stability and security of Indian tribes and families. It is now in jeopardy of being overturned. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton argues that the law unlawfully “elevates a child’s race over their best interest.”
