EVENT INFORMATION

Child Welfare Primer
The 2019 Child Welfare Primer: Essential Advocacy for Child & Family Well-being will dive into the issues currently facing the child welfare system and what CASA, child welfare stakeholders and the state legislature can do to improve outcomes for children in care.

The two-part event will start with a morning session covering Texas CASA’s Legislative Priorities exclusively for local CASA program volunteers, staff and board members. The afternoon session will start with lunch, followed by two panel discussions on substance abuse and normalcy for children and youth in the foster care system. The afternoon session is open to all child welfare stakeholders, legislators and legislative staff, in addition to the CASA network.

For the full agenda and panel descriptions, please visit the event webpage. This event is free with lunch included, but space is limited!

CASA Day at the Capitol
CASA Day at the Capitol is the day CASA advocates join together, in a shared voice, to advocate for Texas children! Hundreds of CASA advocates from all over the state will fill the State Capitol to share their personal stories of advocacy and discuss legislation that can impact the lives of children. Wear your CASA blue and help us amp up our CASA advocacy!

If you have any questions about the Primer, contact the Public Policy team at publicpolicy@texascasa.org. For more information on Capitol Day, please contact Legislative Advocacy Coordinator Ann Strauser Palmer at apalmer@texascasa.org.

We hope to see you in Austin this February!
