The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC)’s third annual All Together Now: Youth in Foster Care Conference will take place on Oct. 1-2, 2019, at the Holiday Inn Austin Midtown (6000 Middle Fiskville Road, Austin, Texas). The conference supports the growth of the network of local and statewide organizations and the collaborative work of the Tri-Agency Foster Youth initiative. TWC is working with other state and local organizations to hold a conference that will provide valuable information and resources to benefit your organization and the youth you serve.
A key goal for the conference is to share information about what is working and what is needed for youth in foster care, including the following:
- Best practices for local collaboration among organizations, including outreach and retention techniques
- New perspectives from the family courts and juvenile justice system, and securing their involvement locally
- Ways in which existing youth initiatives are serving youth in foster care, including how to connect youth with those programs
- Increased communication within the network of organizations at all levels
TWC is building on materials and sessions from the 2018 conference. Before the conference, both last year’s materials and the presentations for this year will be provided for review. Additionally, during the conference, more time will be given for attendees to converse with their partners as well as for attendees to connect with programmatic peers from across the state. TWC is particularly excited to offer two new panels: one is about the legal and judicial side of the foster care system, and the other addresses working with youth who have experienced trauma.
