We are more than halfway into the 86th Legislative Session as more child welfare bills are being heard in committee each week. Texas CASA’s Public Policy team has been hard at work testifying in numerous committees to advocate in support of effective legislation.
On Feb. 27, Public Policy Coordinator Sarah Crockett testified in the House Juvenile Justice and Family Issues Committee on HB 1162 by Rep. Jarvis Johnson. Public Policy Fellow Bryan Mares testified on Feb. 26 in the Senate Education Committee in support of Texas CASA’s champion legislation, SB 424, by Sen. Royce West. What’s more, Bryan also testified in the House County Affairs Committee in support of HB 3786 by Rep. Garnet Coleman. Public Policy Executive Director Andy Homer also testified on trauma-informed care legislation in the House Human Services Committee on Feb. 26. Click here to view the recorded testimony.
