44 Children’s Books About Mental Health

May is National Mental Health Month. The Child Mind Institute recently released a list of 44 children’s books that deal with mental health-related topics that their clinicians read and recommended. The list includes books for kids up to 12 years old, from picture books for preschoolers to chapter books for older children. The list includes books on common things children struggle with – like managing big emotions, dealing with grief, bullying and self-esteem – as well as books about abuse and neglect, depression, grief, loss and trauma.

Visit the Child Mind Institute website today to view the full list or search by topic – Abuse, ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Bullying, Depression, Dyslexia, Feelings, Grief and Loss, Identity, Neglect, OCD, Self-Esteem, Selective Mutism, Sensory Processing, Tourette’s Syndrome and Trauma.
