Texas CASA Testifies Before House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues

Texas CASA Senior Public Policy Associate Sarah Crockett and Health Policy Associate Bryan Mares testified before the House Juvenile Justice and Family Issues Committee on March 29 to support top-priority legislation for Texas CASA, including;

  • Texas CASA Champion Bill HB 2058 by Representative Stephanie Klick, which would require judges to ask about normalcy at all permanency hearings for kids in permanent managing conservatorship (long-term foster care),
  • HB 2926 by Representative Tan Parker, which would allow courts to consider the reinstatement of parental rights for parents whose rights were previously involuntary terminated, and
  • HB 1315 by Representative Jarvis Johnson, which would require the continued appointment of a guardian ad litem, attorney ad litem, or an attorney serving in a dual role, for all children who remain in permanent managing conservatorship (long-term foster care).
