We are currently facing a crisis in the foster care system. The Texas Child Protective Services system does not have enough bedspace for all children in its care. The challenge has, in the last few years, reached crisis proportions with many children in the state’s care sleeping in offices and worse, being uprooted and placed out of state.
- More than 580 Texas children are currently placed out of state
- CASA volunteers who are appointed to children placed out of state face the barrier of long-distance travel to see them
CASA is determined to show up no matter where children are placed. So what can we do to help? Over the next few weeks we will dive deeper into issues and solutions. Stay tuned for more on this important campaign and stories of lived experience from the field!
