Engage Faith Communities in Praying for Children on Stand Sunday

Nov. 13, 2022, is Stand Sunday. On this day, faith communities across the state of Texas are invited to pray for children and families involved in the foster care system. Child Protection Services (CPS) has agreed to release the first names of children in foster care for this occasion with the goal of having someone praying individually for every child in foster care.

To help promote the day, the following materials are available in the Clergy, CASA and Community toolkit:

  • Media release template – Fill in your local information and tell your community about Stand Sunday.
  • Prayer cards – Hand these out to faith organizations. The cards will have the option to include a child’s name (if you recognize a name that could easily identify a specific child, do not use), as well as how to contact your program. There is a mail merge template and instructions on how to use the cards. You can also find the list of children’s names in the toolkit.

Though Stand Sunday is mainly organized by the Christian Alliance for Orphans, Stand Sunday can and should be adapted for use by non-Christian communities that also practice prayer. Texas CASA does not endorse any one religion. Any testifiers associated with this event are speaking on their own behalf and not Texas CASA’s.
