Texas CASA is hard at work planning several signature events and trainings for the new calendar year. Check out what we have coming up to help your program plan for the year. We are also looking forward to celebrating Texas CASA’s 35th Anniversary at the FY24 Texas CASA Conference in 2024! This will be an exciting celebration of all that the Texas CASA network has accomplished, so stay tuned for more information on the 2024 Texas CASA Conference.
February 28 – March 1: Legislative Reception & CASA Day at the Capitol (Austin)
Audience: CASA volunteers, staff and board members
Registration: Registration is free for both events. As always, CASA Day at the Capitol is open to local CASA program board members, staff and volunteers. However, Texas CASA has changed the registration process this year to help ensure that each program has one program lead for Capitol Day and that each program knows who will be representing their local area to legislators on Capitol Day. Each program needs to identify a Program Lead who will be responsible for ensuring everyone attending on behalf of their program is registered and for scheduling meetings with legislative offices. If you are interested in attending, please coordinate with your program. Executive Directors should have received an email from Texas CASA with information on how to register their group and the registration link on January 10. Additionally, you must be registered for CASA Day at the Capitol to attend the Legislative Reception. Coordinate with your program to register for both Capitol Day and the Legislative Reception.
Description: Hundreds of CASA advocates from all over the state will be visiting their legislative officials to spread the word about CASA and to raise awareness about challenges facing the child welfare system. This opportunity is for local CASA programs to interact with their legislators at the state Capitol in order to support Texas CASA’s funding and legislative priorities and to amplify CASA’s importance as a key participant in the child welfare system.
