Collaborative Family Engagement (CFE) Expands to 10 More CASA Programs
Texas CASA is excited to announce that in Fiscal Year 2020, year five of Collaborative Family Engagement (CFE), we will be expanding into 10 more CASA programs across the state! This means CFE will be practiced by a total of 41 local CASA programs and their local CPS – representing about 100 Texas counties and 57 percent of the statewide CASA network!
CFE began in 2015 as a family finding and engagement partnership between CASA and the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) that recognized the need for, and benefit of, more supportive connections in a child’s life. It is built around the fact that children have many blood relatives and other important people that can be identified and located, and engaged with a case at its inception.
Our goal is to implement CFE in the full CASA network, and thanks to our hard-working and passionate CFE team – and the support of the local programs and their CPS partners – we’re on track to do so by 2023.
“We’re so excited to get started implementing CFE with these programs,” said CFE Director Candice Dosman. “With more than half of the statewide CASA network and CPS invested in this work, we’re not only changing the way CASA advocates for kids and families, but the child welfare system as a whole.”
Please join us in welcoming the 10 CASA programs joining CFE this year. We can’t wait to work with them to create better, more connected outcomes for children and families!

All 10 of the new programs, as well as their local CPS and Community-Based Care partners – are also in the process of selecting dates for CFE implementation trainings which will take place between September 2019 and January 2020.
