DFPS Releases Request for Application for Region 8B
The Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) announced Monday, May 6, the release of the Request for Application (RFA) for the next Community Based Care catchment area – Region 8B. The RFA is the first step in vetting potential interested contractors to oversee foster and kinship placement, case management and reunification services in DFPS Region 8, excluding Bexar County. As a reminder, in August 2018, DFPS awarded the Community Based Care contract in Bexar County to Family Tapestry, a division of the Children’s Shelter.
Community Based Care is a new way of providing foster care and case management services. This community-based approach aims to place youth closer to home and better coordinate services to children in foster care and their families. Community Based Care has been rolling out gradually in stages statewide to ensure the success of the program.
This is a big step in the redesign of the Texas foster care system and will result in improved positive outcomes for children, youth and families! Read the DFPS announcement.
