Just in time for the new year, the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) released the latest Community-Based Care (CBC) Implementation Plan.
The biggest news in the report is the realignment of the catchment areas in Region 3, which includes the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The region had been divided in to three areas, but will now instead be divided into two: “3 East” and “3 West.” This change reduces the number of catchment areas statewide to 16 from the previous 17.
In addition, the December plan lays out the general timeline for CBC implementation going forward. DFPS intends to roll out CBC to two new regions each year. The plan does not state the order in which the catchment areas will implement CBC; we can expect to see that information in the 2020 implementation plan. As always, the pace of the CBC rollout going forward will ultimately be determined by each legislative session and how they choose to fund the process.
Remember, the DFPS Community-Based Care page is full of useful information, including updates.
