Chief Executive Officer of Texas CASA
As we head further into 2020, there are a lot of changes in front of us as a CASA network and a child welfare system as a whole. I have to be honest with you – I’m excited! While the prospect of change can be daunting, I’m choosing to look to the future with hope.
A topic on most people’s mind around change is the continued implementation of Community-Based Care (CBC). The child welfare system in Texas is evolving, and that is a fact. CBC will roll out with or without us, and now is our opportunity to form strong and lasting new partnerships for the good of those we serve. The path forward is still being built, and it is my hope that we build it together, because we can never have too many people working to support families in crisis. In my opinion, having more people and more resources from local communities invested in this work is a win for CASA, a win for the children and families we serve, and a win for Texas.
This change also comes as Texas CASA wraps up our 30th Anniversary year. We celebrated our past, so now is the chance for us to look forward to the future – to shape what the next 30 years of CASA will look like. If we can embrace the change that is coming, I know that these next 30 years will be full of collaboration, opportunity and growth.
See why I’m excited? The possibilities are endless!
I believe that what we start now will lead to a brighter future for Texas children and families. I hope you are as eager for new opportunities as me, and I can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for us.
Embracing the new, and thankful as ever for all that you do,
