The Commercial Sexual Exploitation-Identification Tool (CSE-IT, pronounced “see it”), built by Westcoast Children’s Clinic, is designed to improve early identification of children who are commercially sexually exploited. The CSE-IT is an evidence-based tool, developed with the input of survivors and service providers, and has been validated with data from a 15-month pilot to ensure that it accurately identifies youth who have clear indicators of exploitation. The CSE-IT is appropriate for use by CASA volunteer supervisors.
This Commercial Sexual Exploitation-Identification Tool (CSE-IT) User Training prepares participants to use the CSE-IT in their work settings. The training will take place on Nov. 16, 2021, at 9 a.m. (CT).

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
The training includes an orientation to the tool, a description of CSE-IT indicators, scoring instructions and possible next steps. However, to use the CSE-IT well, users also need foundational knowledge provided by the training, including an understanding of commercial sexual exploitation, an understanding of trauma and a review of helpful approaches and engagement skills. The CSE-IT, combined with increased awareness and understanding of commercial sexual exploitation, enhances users’ ability to identify children and youth who have experienced this abuse.
