Texas CASA is pleased to welcome Rhonda Kuykendall as our Anti-Child Trafficking (CASA ACTs) Consultant. Rhonda will be working with Texas CASA to further develop best practices for local programs to be active stakeholders in their local anti-trafficking community, and to develop a framework for programs and volunteers to best advocate for children and youth who have been or are at risk of being trafficked. Rhonda lives in Fort Bend County, Texas. As a member of the Board of Directors of Child Advocates of Fort Bend (CAFB), she chairs their Legislative Advocacy Team. She also chairs the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Human Trafficking Team focusing on statewide legislation, city-wide ordinances to close illicit massage businesses and sharing a community awareness program, “Speak Up! Sex Trafficking in Fort Bend County.” Rhonda is a survivor of sex trafficking and is active in the human trafficking advocacy movement in the greater Houston area.
In 2019 Rhonda was awarded Child Advocate of the Year and Legislative Advocate of the Year by CAFB. She was awarded a Congressional Honor in 2014 for her legislative work to improve the lives of children in Texas who’ve experienced abuse by abolishing the statute of limitations for child sexual assault. She is pursuing her bachelor’s in social work in the Honors program at the University of Houston – Downtown.
