Local Board Member Development

Event Details

Whether you’re a new or seasoned board member, this training is an excellent opportunity to learn some fundamental best practices of effective board governance, hear from professional consultants and network with other board members from CASA programs across the state. Training subjects will include:

  • How to build a strong board,
  • Evaluation,
  • Finances – being a good steward and addressing risk, and
  • The board/executive director partnership.

In addition to the live training, there will be a prerecorded webinar that your whole board can view that will provide an overview of Texas CASA’s vision and mission, strategic goals, funding and services to local programs; as well as public policy updates for the 84th Legislative Session.

The April 18 and May 16 trainings will have the same curriculum.

Note: This training is mandatory. As a requirement of your Crime Victim’s Compensation contract, one board member from your program must attend either the April or May training (does not have to be an officer). Travel, food and one night of lodging for one board member will be reimbursed by Texas CASA.
