Please join us for a special two-part workshop presented by Dr. Jessica Pryce focused on how to have strategic conversations with volunteers-in-training around power dynamics, racial equity and the impact of implicit bias in child welfare decision making. This training will include a live Q&A, active polling, de-identified case vignettes and practice experiences.
Part one of this training will take place at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. CST on Tuesday, May 17. Part two of this training builds on part one and will take place at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. CST on Wednesday, May 18.
This workshop is designed for CASA program staff involved in training CASA advocates, but other program staff are also welcome to attend. Please note this training is not intended for volunteers.
While this workshop builds on the training presented by Dr. Pryce in August 2021, participants are not required to have attended that training in order to register for this workshop. Central themes from last August’s training will be revisited during this discussion.
Prior to the training, participants are asked to view Dr. Pryce’s short Distinguished Speaker Series Video on the History of Child Welfare and the Trauma of Family Separation.
