School-Based Advocacy for LGBTQ Youth in Foster Care Webinar
School-based Advocacy for LGBTQ Youth in Foster Care will take place on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. – noon CST, and will be presented by Tracy Flynn, M.Ed., Management and Education Consultant and ACAF Expert Trainer; and Emma Ledford, Communications Specialist and LGBTQ Staff Advocate, Texas CASA.
As part of the Human Rights Campaign All Children – All Families (ACAF) initiative’s summer webinar series, this webinar will cover the risk factors lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) youth face, specifically in education settings, and how it affects their everyday life. The presenters will provide best practices to help CASA volunteers and other advocates ensure that these youth have a welcoming and supportive educational experience. Attendees will also learn about school resources, behaviors and policies that encourage healthy development for LGBTQ youth – with the goal of creating the building blocks for their lifelong opportunities, healthy development and academic success.
