Texas CASA Hosts Advocate Coordinator Training in Corpus Christi
Texas CASA held an Advocate Coordinator Training at CASA of the Coastal Bend in Corpus Christi on June 22-23. Advocate Coordinator Training, formerly known as Supervisor Training, is an in-person training opportunity for anyone who supervises CASA volunteers, and focuses on practical coaching to ensure high-quality advocacy centered on the well-being of the child.
We had close to 30 attendees, from McMullen to Hidalgo county and beyond – and wonderful participation and engagement!
Some of the topics covered included:
- Establishing goals and expectations,
- Developing a strong team and maintaining partnerships,
- Adjusting and coaching for better communication, and more.
Special thanks to Seana Towler, Program Director of CASA of the Coastal Bend, and her staff for being wonderful hosts, and so accommodating during our two-day training at their office.
Attendees later discussed what practices they use in supervising their CASA volunteers and how, through the training and gathering information from other CASA staff, they were able to learn from one another and have individual “a-ha moments” that will help them continue to better their work with advocates and volunteers with CASA!
