Texas CASA Thanks CenterPoint Energy for 10 Years of Partnership
Texas CASA was pleased to honor CenterPoint Energy Inc. with a custom painting by Mery Godigna Collet.
CenterPoint Energy has been a valued partner for 10 years and has generously invested more than $200,000 over that time. This investment has made a remarkable impact on the CASA community throughout Texas. CenterPoint Energy was most recently the CASA Day at the Capitol Title Sponsor, bringing together more than 200 members of the CASA network from across the state to meet with lawmakers about Texas CASA’s legislative priorities and funding.
Texas CASA was proud to present this incredible artwork to Jeff Bonham, VP, Texas State Relations, at CenterPoint Energy’s Austin office. We look forward to continuing this partnership and improving outcomes for Texas children.
About the Artist:
Mery Godigna Collet was born in Venezuela and spent her childhood and part of her adolescence in post-war Europe. She grew up in an oil-producing country. In her child’s mind, petroleum became a kind of magical source of curiosity. Collet’s process uses techniques learned in Egypt and involves an “almost alchemical” application of pigment and texture that makes the conversion of these materials into something new and sublime.
In the series entitled “Extra Virgin Petrus Oil” her work is created with petroleum and its by-products as well as vegetable fiber. Her interest in ecological matters has grown and the “concept” has become the “nuclei” of her work. In her works, she shows a tendency to minimalism where the only statement is a call to reflection.
Her works are at the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Zulia (MACZUL) in Venezuela, the Galleria D’Arte Moderno Aroldo Bonzagni di Cento (Italy), the Quai Branly Museum, Latin American Art Museum and Petroleum Museum in Texas.
