Texas CASA’s 30th Anniversary Mural Unveiled

Texas CASA is celebrating our 30th Anniversary all year long during 2019. As part of our celebration, we commissioned a commemorative mural in honor of all that we have accomplished as a network over the last 30 years. Created by Avery O Design, the mural captures major milestones in Texas CASA’s history, including the signing of SB 349 – the bill authored by Sen. Florence Shapiro and Rep. Toby Goodman that allowed CASA’s appointment as Guardian Ad Litem in 1997. Other elements highlight our work at the Texas Capitol, our connections across the state, and the importance of children living happy, normal lives in safe, permanent homes.

Texas CASA was created from a desire of the original 13 local CASA programs to establish a statewide hub – an organization belonging to everyone in Texas where communities could get the funding and expert support needed to form their own CASA programs. For 30 years, Texas CASA has been making that dream a reality. Now 72 local programs strong with an active voice at the Capitol, we have taken monumental steps towards achieving our goal of a CASA volunteer for every child.

Without you, we would not have reached the many milestones highlighted in the mural, and we hope it inspires you as much as it inspires us to never stop believing in The CASA Way: that we will achieve what others think is impossible, and each of us is an essential part of the solution.
