Akerman LLP and National CASA/GAL Association for Children have announced that the application process is now open for the annual Akerman Academic Excellence Scholarship Award. The Akerman Academic Excellence Scholarship was established to help young adults who have spent time in foster care pursue a post-secondary education through an accredited institution of higher learning such as a university, career college or technical school. Nine incredible young people have benefited so far from this scholarship.

A scholarship for $2,500 will be awarded to an outstanding young person who has demonstrated a commitment to academic achievement, and students remaining in good academic standing may be eligible to receive the scholarship for up to four years.

Applicants can be from anywhere in the United States. Also, the students do not have to be fresh out of high school.
If you know a young person who has spent time in foster care and meets the scholarship eligibility requirements, please nominate them for the award.
The recipient and their CASA/GAL volunteer will be invited to attend the 2023 National CASA Conference in June in St. Louis, MO.
