Alise Morrissey Banner Landscape 1

National Reunification Month, observed annually in June, recognizes the people and ongoing efforts around the country that help families stay together. Texas CASA is proud to be a dedicated entity raising awareness for the significance of keeping families involved in the child welfare system safely together and recognizing how the community can better support these families. To continue to promote this message, we have come across an inspiring story featured on Seen Out Loud by the Institute for Family.

In this particular episode, host Matt Anderson invites Alise Morrissey to share about her personal experiences with the child welfare system. Alise’s narrative sheds light on the profound impact of individuals who offered her hope and support, including a volunteer, a judge, an attorney and a program leader. These individuals saw Alise for who she truly was, beyond her circumstances. Alise recounts her journey from being a straight-A student to facing the challenges of giving birth while serving a prison sentence.

With remarkable resilience, Alise unveils the role of her faith, the kindness of those who crossed her path and her unwavering determination to be there for her child played in her recovery from substance use disorder. Ultimately, her story culminates in a heartwarming reunion with her daughter.

Alise’s journey illustrates the possibilities of healing and reunification within the child welfare system. Tune in to the episode on Seen Out Loud to learn more about how a community can actively support and uplift families involved in the child welfare system.
