Únete al Equipo STAR para un Panel de Discusión sobre los Nuevos Protocolos para Jóvenes Extraviados del Cuidado

Every year, children and youth in foster care, kinship placements or residential settings run away or otherwise go missing. These incidents not only put young people at risk, but also create urgent challenges for caregivers, caseworkers and the child welfare systems to respond effectively.

Join the STAR team on October 27 from 12:00 – 1:00p.m. for a discussion on Falta en los protocolos de atenciónWe will have DFPS presenting new protocols that go into effect October 1st and you will have the opportunity to hear from local CASA programs and how their volunteers support youth who are missing from care.

  • Explore the scope and trends of missing youth in Texas: who is most affected, when and where they go missing, and what factors increase risk.
  • Examine the trauma, system gaps, and other underlying issues that contribute to youth leaving care or being unaccounted for.
  • Share best practices and strategies for prevention, early response, and interagency coordination .
  • Discuss the legal, safety, and well-being implications for youth missing from care — and the supports they need when they return (if they return).
  • Highlight resources, policies, and training available in Texas

This webinar is designed to inform, equip and connect CASA programs with the tools they need to keep youth safer and respond more effectively when they are missing. Together, we can work toward reducing the number of children who go missing from care and ensuring stronger supports for them and for those who care for them.
