CASA of Bell & Coryell Counties Swears in Largest Advocate Class to Date

Last month, CASA of Bell & Coryell Counties was proud to announce the swearing-in of its largest advocate class to date, welcoming 18 new Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) to serve children in foster care across the community.

The class was officially sworn in by Judge Dallas Sims, marking the beginning of each advocate’s commitment to providing a consistent, caring voice for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. These new volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds, united by a shared dedication to making a difference in the lives of local children.

“We are incredibly proud of this group,” said Maddy Ramos, Director of Volunteer Engagement for CASA of Bell & Coryell Counties. “Each advocate brings unique experiences and perspectives, but they are all here for the same reason—to ensure every child has someone advocating for their best interests.”

A special acknowledgment goes to Vista Community Church, which had nine members participate in the training class — making up half of this record-breaking group and marking the largest single church representation in a CASA training to date. Their commitment reflects the powerful impact of faith communities stepping forward to serve vulnerable children and families.

CASA also extends heartfelt gratitude to CASA Board Member Joel Perritte, pastor at Vista Community Church, for helping connect CASA’s Faith Outreach Team with the congregation. His leadership and support were instrumental in strengthening this partnership and helping make this our largest training class yet. Through these connections, more individuals were inspired and equipped to step into advocacy roles that will directly impact children in foster care.

The swearing-in ceremony also included a heartfelt moment that captured the spirit of the program. One advocate, delayed due to jury duty, arrived just after the group ceremony had concluded. In a powerful show of support, her fellow classmates stood behind her as she took her oath, celebrating her commitment with joy and encouragement—an inspiring reflection of the community being built within each CASA class.
