Building Connections Between CASA Volunteers and Incarcerated Parents 

This course equips CASA volunteers and program staff with the tools and strategies needed to foster meaningful relationships between children and their incarcerated parents. Participants will learn how to effectively approach prisons and navigate their systems, inform parents and guardians about available resources, and reinforce existing CASA methodologies to strengthen family bonds. The course emphasizes practical methods for building connections, addressing challenges, and creating supportive environments for children impacted by parental incarceration. Designed for CASA program staff and volunteers, this training ensures participants are prepared to advocate for the best interest of children whose families are involved in the criminal justice system. By the end of the course, learners will be empowered to help build and support impactful relationships between incarcerated parents and their children in foster care contributing to positive outcomes for every family.
