CASA Day at the Capitol & Legislative Reception!

Hundreds of CASA advocates from all over the state will be visiting their legislative officials to spread the word about CASA and to raise awareness about challenges facing the child welfare system at CASA Day at the Capitol on March 1, 2023. As you know, this is an amazing opportunity for local CASA programs to interact with their legislators at the State Capitol to support the Texas CASA network funding request and legislative priorities and to amplify CASA’s importance as a key stakeholder in the child welfare system.

As always, CASA Day at the Capitol is open to local CASA program volunteers, board members, and staff. However, Texas CASA changed the registration process this year to help ensure that each program has one Program Lead for Capitol Day and that each program knows who will be representing their local area to legislators on Capitol Day.

For this year’s event, CASA volunteers, board members, or staff who are interested in attending will need to coordinate with their local CASA program to register. You will need to provide your CASA Program Lead with (1) Your name, (2) Your email address, (3) Whether you will be attending the Legislative Reception on Feb. 28, (4) Whether you would like a box lunch on Capitol Day, and (5) Whether you have any dietary restrictions. After your program registers you for CASA Day at the Capitol, you will receive a confirmation email with more details regarding Capitol Day and the Legislative Reception. Registration for Capitol Day will close on Feb. 10.

Each program will designate a Program Lead for Capitol Day who will be responsible for reaching out to legislators and scheduling Capitol Day meetings. Make sure you know who your Program Lead is so you can coordinate where you will need to be during Capitol Day. For more information about CASA Day at the Capitol, check out our webpage.
