Cultivating at the Capitol: Discussing the Upcoming Session and the Future of CASA

Texas CASA’s legislative priorities were developed earlier this year with the feedback and guidance provided by the network. Once the priorities were developed the Texas CASA’s Public Policy team began holding a series of three hour Pre-Session trainings to discuss  about effective legislative advocacy, child welfare trends, current hot policy topics, and legislative priorities for the 89th Legislative Session. During the trainings, there were many questions about what is within CASA’s scope, regarding the ability to change the course of legislative decisions, and what is likely to pass during the upcoming legislative session.

To address this and other challenges we, as a network, are facing, Texas CASA will be hosting a training opportunity on Monday, December 9, in Austin at the Texas State Capitol. This training is, limited to local Executive Directors and Board Chairs and will allow local program leadership to gain a more in-depth understanding of Texas CASA’s legislative and growth strategies, current challenges confronting the CASA network, and potential different avenues for advocacy on behalf of children and families in CASA’s future.

We invite all local CASA Executive Directors and Board Chairs join us, Texas CASA, in Austin at the Texas State Capitol on December 9 from 10:00 am to 2:00pm. Lunch will be provided.
