About CFE

Collaborative Family Engagement is Texas’ team-based approach between local CASA programs and CPS, SSCCs, and other child welfare professionals to engage, find and work with family members and fictive kin in the creation and development of a lifetime network for young people in the foster care system. CFE provides creative tools for volunteers and caseworkers to use with the child, parent or relative to learn about who they identify as important people to them, and to more fully hear their voice and story.

About the CFE Tools App

The app is intended to provide another option for members of the CFE Team to complete engagement tools in-person with young people in foster care, and/or with their parents, family members, caregivers or other important people.

How To Use

After creating an account, you will receive an email from us asking you to allow time for us to verify your information before approving your account. The app is intended to be used in Texas by those implementing CFE. As soon as we approve your account, you will receive an email informing you of your approved status. You can then login to the CFE Tools App with your email and password. You will be able to complete any of the tools presented in the app, with as many different people as you would like. Some tools require drawing, some writing, and some are more in game form.

Tools in the CFE App

A Connectedness Map uses shapes and lines to illustrate your connections to others. You will identify people in your life who love and care about you, and who will be there for you no matter what.

The Connect Cards: Deck 1 is a fun way to share about yourself, your friends and family – and be silly at the same time! Each card in the deck has a different question on it that you can answer, skip, or remove from the deck.

Circles of Trust helps you identify people in your life and put their names in the circle that best represents how close you are to them. The closer they are to you in the circles, the closer you feel to them.

An Ecomap helps you identify different areas and connections in your life. You can indicate the flow of energy between relationships with arrows. You can explore your connections in different areas of your life such as family, work, school, friends, faith communities, neighbors and hobbies. These are just a few examples. Think about any and all areas of your life that you’d like to.

Mobility Mapping is a visual timeline of your life that you create by drawing places you have lived and people from your earliest memory to the present day.

The Three Houses tool helps you think about and express what is working well in your life, what you are worried about, and what your hopes and dreams are.

The Tree of Life is a way for you to reflect on different aspects of your life and tell your story.
