Innovations in Advocacy to Combat Child Sex Trafficking Webinar
Through grants from the Texas Governor’s Office and the National CASA Association, Dallas CASA was able to partner with Saving Innocence, a Los Angeles based advocacy organization. These collaborative efforts resulted in a 3-year project creating a first of its kind child sex trafficking training focusing on youth in foster care. The product created was designed specifically for the CASA network, but its contents are applicable for any child serving agency who might encounter children who are at high risk of child sex trafficking (CST). The combination of web and in person content presents a versatile learning experience for those who want to gain a deep understanding of CST within the context of child welfare. Come hear the story of how it was created and how CASA is working towards collaborative integration into the OOG’s Multi-Disciplinary Teams across Texas. We’ll also discuss how Dallas CASA is using this training to create specialized volunteers who are participants in the MDT’s care coordination program and how this training can be modified to suit the needs of other CASA programs across the state.
