The CASA Story

What children need isn’t complicated: it’s someone who believes in them, fights for them, and shows up consistently.

CASA VOLUNTEERS ARE AN UNWAVERING SOURCE OF STABILITY IN A RAPIDLY CHANGING CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers amplify the voices of children in the child welfare system and help ensure they don’t fall through the cracks. They are essential to improving outcomes for children because:

CASES ARE MORE SEVERE

Even though fewer children are entering foster care, those who do face deeper trauma, greater mental health needs, and fewer placement options.

A STRAINED SYSTEM MEANS CARE GAPS

Child welfare services now differ by region, and CASA has quickly adapted. Volunteers must remain agile and exhaust more resources in an increasingly complex system.

CASA VOLUNTEERS CHANGE LIVES

Texas CASA amplifies the stories of volunteer impact at the Capitol and advocates for sound public policies that enhance their service in the child welfare system.

7 in 10 children in foster care are moved out of their home county

They’re moved away from their homes, relatives, and everything they know. CASA volunteers continue to show up, often traveling MILLIONS of miles to make sure they have a consistent advocate in their lives.
