Texas CASA Data Team Developments

Blog post Inside CASA 3
What are some ways you plan to improve the data managing system for local programs in your new role?

Texas CASA has been working to automate the process for reporting quarterly performance measures using reports from Optima for the programs who use Optima. We are nearing completion of that project and will go live with a pilot of programs for Q1 FY25 reporting, then expanding in the following quarters.

We also plan to be more engaged with the network to assist with any data questions/concerns, including publishing more user-focused resources, hosting quarterly trainings, and on-going technical assistance for any questions/concerns.

How will this shift in roles impact the CASA network?

We are working to deepen the partnership with the network to jointly solve data challenges.

How will your role from Data Manger to Data Director differ and what new responsibilities will you be tackling?

We will focus more acutely on user-friendly dashboards that will result in usable analytics to help tell the CASA story.

What do you see in the future for Texas CASA’s and the network’s use of data?

We will be able to integrate other stakeholders’ data into CASA’s data to better tell the story and contextualize the service local CASA programs and volunteers provide. For example, including DFPS data more thoroughly in our analyses will encourage a better understanding of the impacts of CASA.

Here’s what Tamea Bryd, Chief Financial Officer, had to say about Sub Uppaluri:

“Sub really enjoys a challenge and has been quick to work on larger projects to increase Texas CASA’s data savviness! He spent weeks, including weekends, learning macros to work on automating the quarterly performance measures by synchronizing with Optima’s reports – a project that we will be piloting with local CASA programs soon and should shave hours off entering quarterly performance reports for programs.

Sub brings a lot of passion and personality to the data team. Since day one he has been focused on connecting with stakeholders and figuring out ways to enhance the CASA story using data and key performance indicators (KPIs).”
