Goodbye to Candice Dosman, Advocacy Initiatives Director
After almost 10 years of incredible service, Candice will soon be leaving Texas CASA and starting a new adventure across the pond in England. We want to take this opportunity to celebrate her outstanding contributions and the positive impact she’s had on children, parents and families in Texas. Hear directly from Candice about her remarkable journey with Texas CASA below.

“Just under a decade ago, I started a new job in a new country. Texans welcomed this Canadian, and trusted me to develop and lead a family engagement, connection centered and trauma informed approach to child welfare- through their child protective case practice and CASA advocacy. In that time, we took a big idea across an even bigger state, and have successfully embedded Collaborative Family Engagement (CFE) in 195 counties, 74 CASA programs, and all DFPS regions. We have not just met the goals we set out for, but surpassed them.
Joining Texas CASA in 2015 was a difficult and intimidating decision at the time, as I had to leave my secure job with a pension, do long distance with my husband, move to a new country, etc- but one that I’ve never regretted.
And as in 2015; in 2025 I’m setting course for new opportunities, new challenges, in a new country- England, where I will be moving to in February. I will spend the first bit of time laying down roots and building new connections for myself (and learning to drive on the left hand side of the road!), but look forward to continuing my life’s work through consulting with organizations around the world to truly be human centered.
I am so proud of the work by the CASA network to truly move towards best interest advocacy including family and parents. Working with the CFE team and everybody at Texas CASA and in the network has been such a privilege and honor, and I hope we will forever stay connected.”
