June CASA Story Activation Update
Welcome to CASA Story’s June Activation email! It’s been so powerful to see our unified voice and your stories of impact on social media and in the news. Thank you to all who’ve shared CASA Story content and attended our online role-play office hours last month.
New Resources
You’ll find June Social Media Posts (4) and a Media Alert on the CASA Story Program Portal. The media alert is centered on how CASA supports the mental health needs of children and youth in foster care. Pitch ideas include:
- Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Training — How CASA Volunteers take a trauma-informed approach to advocacy
- Meet a Volunteer who showed up for a child with higher mental health needs
- State of Child Welfare in Texas (Texas CASA is available for interviews in person or virtually, based on location.)
Meetings with Legislators
We recently shared the CASA Story Program Strategy Legislative Matrix with local program EDs, which includes our recommendations for spring outreach by program and information about legislators for each program/service area and legislators shared by CASA programs. Please reach out to publicpolicy@texascasa.org if you would like access to the matrix or with any questions.
As you meet and engage with legislators, please be sure to complete the Legislative Visit Feedback Form. This helps our team track outreach efforts, identify follow-up opportunities, and better coordinate statewide advocacy strategy.
Upcoming Events
The Public Policy team will hold office hours this month to review and answer any questions about the Legislative Matrix. No need to register, just join us!
Feedback Opportunity
If you haven’t already, please share your feedback from recent CASA Story trainings. Your input helps us as we continue to build and refine the CASA Story campaign.
Share Your Story
We’d love to highlight your stories of impact throughout the CASA Story campaign. Please email the following types of stories to communications@texascasa.org.
- How CASA volunteers change lives
- Your experience with the rollout of CBC
- Your experience seeing and managing more severe cases
Thank you for everything you do to support the volunteers and children you serve. You are changing lives every day.
