Texas CASA on Great Day Houston

What does it mean to be a consistent, caring adult in a child’s life? 💙

During a recent appearance on Great Day Houston, Texas CASA CEO Vicki Spriggs and AD Tincopa, a CASA volunteer and Texas CASA’s Public Policy Specialist, shared why CASA volunteers make such a meaningful difference for children in foster care.

Before becoming a CASA volunteer herself, AD saw firsthand how children’s body language changed when their CASA volunteer walked into the room.

“The second that CASA volunteer would enter the room, I could see a child just become so comfortable. This is the one person in that really tumultuous time in the child welfare system who is consistent.”

That’s the power of showing up. CASA volunteers build relationships, listen to children, connect with the people in their lives, and advocate for their best interests.

Approximately 10,000 children in Texas foster care are still waiting for a CASA volunteer. You don’t have to be a child welfare expert to make a difference. You just need to be willing to learn, show up consistently, and speak up for a child.
