Texas CASA will be offering a training for the Commercial Sexual Exploitation-Identification Tool (CSE-IT) screening tool on Jan. 19, from 9 a.m.-noon Central. The CSE-IT tool, combined with increased awareness and understanding of commercial sexual exploitation, enhances users’ ability to identify children and youth who have experienced this abuse.
CSE-IT User Training
This training prepares participants to use the CSE-IT in their work settings. It includes an orientation to the tool, a description of CSE-IT indicators, scoring instructions and possible next steps. To use the CSE-IT well, users also need foundational knowledge, which the training also provides – including an understanding of commercial sexual exploitation, an understanding of trauma, and a review of helpful approaches and engagement skills.

If Your Program Has Already Completed CSE-IT Training
If your program already has staff training in the CSE-IT tool and is ready to start screening, here is more information on your next steps on getting set up in Lighthouse. Lighthouse is designed to quickly, easily and effectively identify survivors of sex trafficking with the CSE-IT tool. Screening with CSE-IT helps CASA staff to identify youth that are facing exploitation, and equips you to respond and fully meet their needs.
If your CASA organization already has access to Lighthouse, we encourage you to start screening for trafficking. Here’s a quick start guide and a brief webinar to help you and your team get acquainted and start using the tool.
If your CASA organization is not yet set up with Lighthouse, go to the Lighthouse Support site and follow the steps under “Getting Started” to complete the onboarding process. New agencies will need to sign a Software License Agreement, register users and receive training before they can begin screening.
