STAR Monthly Zoom Updates

To finish out 2025, the STAR Monthly Zoom series will host two panel discussions, the first on New Missing From Care Protocols and the second on Preserving Sibling Connections.

Please join us on October 27 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. for our discussion on Missing from Care ProtocolsWe will have DFPS presenting new protocols that go into effect October 1, 2025  and you will have the opportunity to hear from local CASA programs and how their volunteers support youth who are missing from care.

Please Join us on November 17 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. for our discussion on Preserving Sibling ConnectionsWe will have Diane Sumoski, the Director of SMU’s Child Welfare Legal Clinic, join us to talk about the legal rights of children in foster care regarding access to their siblings, as well as ways to advocate for and support sibling relationships for the children you serve. You will also have the opportunity to hear from local CASA program staff with lived experience who will share both their experience with sibling group adoption and some practical best practices for advocating for sibling groups.

Please note our November STAR Zoom will be on the 3rd Monday instead of the 4th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday week.
