Public Policy Tour of Texas Recap

The Public Policy Team has officially wrapped up their Post Session Tour of Texas! From August to November, the Public Policy Team traveled across the state to conduct eight in-person training sessions at local CASA programs in Conroe, Tyler, Dallas, Abilene, San Marcos, Lubbock, El Paso and Corpus Christi. In addition to these in-person trainings, the Public Policy Team hosted an 88th Legislative Session Wrap-Up Webinar available to those in the CASA network who were unable to make it to an in-person training.

During each in-person training session, the Public Policy Team provided three hours of in-depth details about new legislative changes and facilitated discussions regarding the impact on the CASA network following the 88th Regular Legislative Session. Additionally, the Public Policy Team provided up-to-date information regarding Community-Based Care expansion and the ongoing Federal Lawsuit. These training sessions provided the Public Policy Team with the opportunity to hear candid feedback directly from the staff and volunteers of our local CASA programs. Texas CASA plans to take the feedback from these training sessions and use it to work collaboratively with the CASA network and other child welfare stakeholders as we plan ahead and look forward to the 89th Legislative Session.
